Pee Pee in the Potty Day #2

Hmmm...I have to say...he went in the potty twice before lunch. I think thats pretty good for day two! I decided to put him into a diaper when I realized he had to poopy and was very upset when I mentioned going in the potty. I know that probably sounds like not a good idea, but I don't want to be a hard nose yet. I'm taking it easy and trying to make it fun!
Update: Day three was not as fun. He only went once! :(
This pic was taken back in August when we first tried potty training. He is definitely more ready now, than he was then!

Pee Pee in the potty!

WWWWOOOOOOHHHHOOOOOOO! I was changing Eli's poopy diaper when Micayla said to him, "Eli you should potty in the big boy potty." I said, "ya Eli let's try." And he started to cry. I told him, "Eli if you potty in the big boy potty, you can have this brand new Disney car." (thinking he wouldn't do it, cause we have attempted before). So I took him in there, let him hold the new car and left the room. And I told him that he has to potty in order to keep the car...then gave him some privacy. He came out (and I'm thinking ya...he didn't do anything, he cries at the thought of going outside of him diaper!). But sure enough...I went to check and he did it! I did a crazy PEE PEE IN THE POTTY dance straight from "Look whos talking" w/ John Travolta and Eli copied me. We were cheering around the house. And he got his new car!!! We called Daddy and then Grandma! So now he has on his new CARS underware. We shall see what the rest of the day holds! I'm holding my breathe!

FPU: We have embraced the challenge! We committed to doing Financial Peace University a financial program by Dave Ramsey. We are not financially in trouble...Thank u Jesus, but we (maybe I should say I) could definitely learn to budget better. Its been interesting and challenging all at the sametime. I highly recommend the class to everyone...even the wealthy!

Ear infection, Obama and Finding Nemo!

No infection but Eli still has fluid in there! So we will wait till March and if its not gone by then...we may have to get tubes. :(

Zahavah is doing much better too. She is down to one breathing treatment a day and the doc will recheck her soon too. Gotta get those lungs cleared up. She is sleeping very well at night.

Some other random thoughts I have had this week...

I was super pumped about the inauguration on Tues! How about you? I'll be the first to say...I didn't vote for Obama but now that he is in office, I do feel its crucial to pray for and support him. I sat on my bed with my two babies...played cars and listened to his speech. I thought it was good and I really enjoyed Rick Warren's prayer. I'm happy that he is representing the Christians of America. On Wednesday though...my attitude changed a bit. For whatever dumb reason I found myself watching Oprah (I know, don't hold it against me). And I became a bit concerned with how much hype there was. I expected it on Tuesday...especially for the African Americans because I do see how special this day is for them (I was so touched by the elderly during the speech...how life changing for them!) But as Oprah and her panel were talking...I could hear the pedistal getting built up higher and higher and higher and I thought...oh this isn't good. I'm pretty sure Obama was trying to say in his speech that it will take a Nation working together to build back up America, yet I kept hearing this panel put so much responsiblity on this one black man! All in all...I guess I should expect to hear this type of thing on Oprah. Even I am excited about him as president now. The day after he won I was about sick to my stomach! I concluded that GOD (not Obama) is really in control and He will do whatever He wills for America.

Do you know the Disney Film Finding Nemo? Do you ever realize there is a lesson right in the beginning for adults? As me and the kids were traveling back from Sarah Bush (I had to pick up stuff for Z's neb treatments) they were watching the clip in the beginning when Marlin and Coral (husband and wife) are swimming around their new home. They are excited b/c they are about to become parents! There little eggs are down below their home in a small cove. When all the sudden they come face to face with a swordshark (or some sort of shark). Marlin says, "Coral don't (she looked down at her babies and was getting ready to bolt to them, to save them...most mommies would!) just get in the house, they will be fine!" Coral doesn't listen. She bolts straight for her eggs and the shark gets her and her babies...all except one...Nemo. I piped in and said..."Well if she had just listened to her husband, she would probably still be alive and so would all her babies." And I continued on about God "putting" the husband over the wife and home and how wives should listen and "obey" their husbands and how husbands are responsible to God for their families and the decisions they make. Etc etc etc. And Micayla really had a hard time with this. Her first response was "No man is going to be over me." I thought...oh boy, I probably would have said the samething when I was 13! Its a good thing maturity comes with age. But anyhow...I found it quite fasinating to relate that to Nemo! I'm sure Disney has many other life lessons tucked away in some of their movies and probably didn't even mean to!!

Have a great day!

Garlic, Garlic, Garlic!

Well, a friend told me she put it down her child's ear canal. And all along I'm thinking it probably can't hurt anything. But I really don't want to turn my children into my lab rats. Today I woke up from a nap w/ a bit of an earache...I thought...PERFECT, I'll try it on myself and see what happens. Besides smelling...it seems fine to me. I just want to be cautious b/c stuff can build up in the ear and I have heard that ear irrigations really hurt. But I just put more in my ear and some in Eli's as he headed off to bed. Its just oil...the garlic has been drained out of it...so (with fingers crossed) it should be ok. Since we went to the doctor on Friday for a check up and she said his ear are still bad, I really want to find something else to try between now and Thurs...when we go to the Ear, Nose and Throat specialist. And ofcourse they will want to put tubes in his ears!
Off to bed...good night!

Goot...what?

Being at my wits end with sick babies and feeling like pharaceuticals can only do so much. I started to research some alternatives to speed the healing process along. I made goot for the first time last night! What is it? 3 Tbsp of minced fresh garlic, 3 Tbsp of Cold pressed, virgin Coconut oil, and 3 Tbsp of Olive Oil. Mix and mesh out the garlic. You can read lots of different ways to do this. Some leave the garlic in (I didn't b/c I was putting it on my children and if you use too much garlic, it can burn the skin....which is also why I only used about 1 3/4 Tbsp of garlic...which took up the whole bulb!) I mixed it all together threw it in the microwave for a few seconds and mixed it good before I drained the garlic out. I tested it on myself first...an open wound (burns a bit), on the inside of my forearm (fine...no problems there). I put some on little Miss. Z's feet and chest before putting her to bed last night. And let me tell you...she was happy as a lark this morning. Still trying to work up that nasty cough but hey she is happy which makes my entire day better! Eli was already in bed when I made it up but I did put it on his feet this morning...so we will see. I'm also going to put it behind his ears. Garlic is very powerful & has healing properties...it soaks into the skin...and with any luck they will get better. I haven't been brave enough to put it down his ear canal yet...but if an experience herbist says its ok, I will probably try it. Since I drained out the garlic its just an oil and should be ok...but I'm not that experienced so I'm not gonna try it yet. If you put Goot in the frig it will harden up to a paste...still works great. I was a bit doubtful...I'll be honest. But as happy as Z is today...I'm glad I tried it. Sure didn't hurt anything!
Also...the Nebulizer Medication made her bottom raw! I order products and carry them in my massage office from www.beeyoutiful.com I just ordered the Miracle Salve and I think its helping her bottom!!!! They also carry other great products like Super Mom, Super Dad, and Super Kid vitamins. I like all of them! And many other great natural supplements. If you live local to me, you can purchase them at my office and it will save you the shipping costs! Love it, love it, love it.
Hope everyone enjoys this frigid weather! Feels like -35! I'm not going anywhere today. Poor Micayla had to go off to school today while every school around us is closed. Go Small Little Christian School...they stay open and fight the cold when all the other pansies close their doors!!!! At least I'm getting my $$$ worth, lol!
Have a Happy Jesus Day!

It amazes me how sick they are! They don't even go to daycare!

Little Miss Zahavah getting her breathing treatment. Please keep my kids in your prayers...Thanks.
So we headed off to the Doctor 1st thing Monday morning. Eli has a severe earache. (Z has one too but not nearly as bad) She is concerned enough to say that if it doesnt' look much much better on Friday, she will refer us to Ears, Nose and Throat specialist b/c she doesn't want him to loose his hearing. My beef about this is...the day after Christmas a different doctor in the same office said he has a minor ear infection and gave us an antibotic which I started the next day and continued for seven days. And now its worse than ever! Go figure! Little Miss has RSV! And since she has it, the doctor wants to treat Eli for it as well. So they each ended up getting antibotic shots, Eli got one in each leg. (My poor little guy, cried so hard) Both were prescribed liquid steroids for the inflammation in their throat. Both were prescribed breathing treatments. Eli twice a day, since he has the ability to cough it up. Z every 4 hours except the nightime hours. I'm just at my wits end. I know we picked it up from Church. And I think their systems are going to have to build up an immunity from church and wal-mart b/c those are the only two public places they go. I'm frustrated b/c I don't feel the antibotics help earaches worth a crap and I just want my babies to get better and be healthy.

My Beautiful Baby Girl is four month old!

Illness still lingers!

Please keep praying for my kids....they are sick! We should have taken them to the Doctor on Friday, but it didn't happen...and we are regretting it now. I think Eli has a bad inner ear infection and Zahavah can't seem to get that "stuff" coughed up! Your prayers are greatly appreciated. We will be at the Dr tomorrow for sure!

What a bummer!

Our computer has completely crashed. We had a guy from church look at it and he said we basically need a new one. The motherboard is fried. :( So...there won't be as many posts and they won't have any new pics till we get a computer. We have a loaner now, but I probably won't be able to upload pics onto it very easily. All of this slows my scrapbooking hobby way down too. But thats ok...it will give me the opportunity to work on Micayla's!!! We had a great Christmas and a Happy New Year. Brett's Dad was here to ring in the New Year with us. And although I managed to grab a few good shots of him and Eli together. I didn't get one picture of him with Zahavah or Micayla. I couldn't believe it! Well, my little guy is crying for me...he doesn't feel well. Something to chew on....What's your New Years Resolution? I'll share mine later.
